• The following are just some of the many distinctions Blue Valley Schools and its students have recently earned:


    • Blue Valley Schools was named to Forbes Best-in-State Employers list, ranking number one among all Kansas employers. Blue Valley is the top-ranked K-12 school district in the Kansas City metro area.

    • Blue Valley's ACT composite average for 2019 graduates was a 25.2 with approximately 90% of 2019 graduates taking the test. The state average was a 21.2. Additionally, 55% of Blue Valley graduates taking the exam met all four college readiness benchmarks in English, Math, Reading and Science.

    • 2019 Blue Valley graduates recorded another year of strong SAT scores while exceeding state and national averages. Blue Valley students scored on average 1315 on the test that measures math, verbal and writing skills. In Kansas, the average is 1241 and nationwide the average is 1068 out of a possible 1600. The College Board, which administers the SAT, changed the format and scoring of the test recently. Thus, the scores are not comparable to previous years.

    • Five Blue Valley high schools were named to the U.S. News & World Report's best high schools list.

    • Blue Valley's graduation rate is 96.6 percent.

    • In 2019, 54 high school seniors were named National Merit Semifinalists.

    • The district's bond rating continues to be excellent with an Aaa rating from Moody's and an AA+ rating from Standard & Poor's. The excellent rating helps to save patron tax dollars by allowing the district better interest rates on the bonds sold.

    • The community agrees that one of Blue Valley's greatest strengths is its dedicated staff. In a Customer Assessment survey conducted during the 2017-18 school year, 92 percent of patrons surveyed said they would give teachers in the district a grade of "A" or "B."

    • The CAPS Network has expanded to 49 programs, across more than 60 school districts in 13 states and one international location. The CAPS Network continues to gain greater national visibility and awareness.

    • P21, The Partnership for 21st Century Learning, designated Wolf Springs Elementary (WSE) as an exemplary school for 2018-19. WSE received this honor for exemplary 21st-century learning practices in preparing students for success in college, career and life. The state of Kansas has one other exemplar, Blue Valley's Center for Advanced Professional Studies, which was identified in 2016

    • Blue Valley Schools received The Table of Faiths Award for 2016 by the Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council. The award recognizes an organization that is visible in the community, is making a positive difference in building relationships with diverse religious groups and promotes a pluralistic vision.

    • Blue Valley North vocal music teacher Jason Sickel, was named 2017 Kansas Teacher of the Year.

    • Niche released its 2020 Best Schools in America Rankings and Blue Valley tops three Kansas lists-- Best Places to Teach in Kansas, Districts with the Best Teachers in Kansas and Best School Districts in Kansas. Niche’s grades and ranking are calculated using dozens of public data sets and millions of reviews.

    •  The WalletHub website has named the city of Leawood the best small city in America, for the second year in a row.
