Dr. Todd White
Dr. Todd White is a skilled educational leader with more than 30 years of experience in education. White assumed the role of Blue Valley Schools Superintendent in the spring of 2016, making him the seventh superintendent in district history. He leads the district's strategic efforts for unprecedented academic success and unparalleled personal growth for every student. White describes his leadership style as team-centric and believes that student success lies in the immensely talented group of people who make up the Blue Valley Schools.
White earned a bachelor's degree from William Jewell College, a master's degree and educational specialist degree from the University of Central Missouri and a doctorate degree from the University of Missouri. He and his wife have three children and five grandchildren.
BLUE VALLEY ANNOUNCES SUPERINTENDENT SUCCESSION PLAN

Dr. Tonya Merrigan
In February 2019, the Blue Valley Board of Education announced a superintendent succession plan. Dr. Tonya Merrigan, current Deputy Superintendent, will succeed Dr. White as superintendent on July 1, 2020. Dr. White will retire from his 35-year career in education after the 2019-20 school year.
The announcement represents the successful culmination of a succession planning process. Using the community-developed leadership profile, the Board of Education purposefully looked internally for ready talent, present leadership and someone who embraces the values the Blue Valley community expressed as most important.
Merrigan's resume covers a span of 30 years in education that began as a math teacher. Since joining Blue Valley in 1999 as a high school counselor, Merrigan has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including assistant principal, associate principal, district administrator for Virtual Education, director of Student Programs, executive director of Curriculum and Instruction, assistant superintendent of Academic Services and her current position of Deputy Superintendent.
White and Merrigan will spend the time leading up to the 2020-21 school year transitioning through the leadership change.
